Translation of the Russian Text:
CAMPAIGN AGAINST BITING INSECTS

During the construction of new cities, industrial complexes, and power plants in Siberia, geologists and surveyors are most troubled by biting insects - countless flying, blood-sucking pests.

Various means have been proposed to fight them - ointments, liquids, dense nets. But all of these offer only short-term protection from midges and mosquitoes.

The Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences has successfully solved this problem. A floating tracked vehicle has been equipped with an aerosol generator that allows for large-scale area treatment. When the engine is remotely activated, the aerosol generator emits a jet of chemical agent up to 50 meters.

The powerful aerosol generator can be mounted on various types of tracked vehicles. The cost of treating one hectare is 12 kopeks. (MAG)
